Velvet Show and Velvet Remote do not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. No account is required. No analytics. No tracking.
Velvet Show — macOS
Velvet Show is a macOS application that runs entirely on your local machine. It reads from a local SQLite database (ShowBuddy) and stores all its own data in a local JSON file on your Mac.
- No data is sent to any server.
- No analytics or crash reporting is enabled.
- No account or registration is required.
- The app requests access to your local audio files folder (macOS sandbox) — this access stays on your device.
Velvet Remote — iPhone & iPad
Velvet Remote is a companion app for Velvet Show. It communicates exclusively with Velvet Show running on a Mac on your local network or via USB cable.
- No data is sent to any external server.
- No personal information is collected or stored.
- No account or registration is required.
- The app uses the Local Network permission to discover Velvet Show via Bonjour on your local network. This permission is used solely for device discovery and does not transmit any personal data.
- The last connected server name is stored locally on the device to enable automatic reconnection. This information never leaves your device.
Velvet Light DJ — macOS
Velvet Light DJ follows the DJ software you already use and sends lighting cues to your MaestroDMX box. It has no account, no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising. Almost everything stays on your Mac and your local network. Three things do use the Internet:
- Licence check (Lemon Squeezy). To activate, check or release a licence, the app sends your licence key and the name of your Mac (the one you chose in System Settings) to Lemon Squeezy, our payment provider. This is how a key is limited to two Macs. The key is stored in the macOS Keychain.
- Update check (GitHub). About every six hours the app asks GitHub whether a newer version exists. GitHub sees your IP address, like any website you visit; the app sends nothing else except its version number.
- Purchases are handled entirely by Lemon Squeezy, not by us. We never see your card details.
On your own machine and network:
- It reads the history of your DJ software (djay, Serato DJ, VirtualDJ) in read-only mode. It never writes anything into it, and your music files are only analysed locally.
- To follow pause, rewind and skip in djay, it reads djay's on-screen time through the macOS Accessibility permission, which you grant yourself. Nothing read this way leaves your Mac.
- It talks to your MaestroDMX box on your local network only (cue numbers, cue names, light colours).
- Its settings, the trial start date and what it learned from your choices are stored on your Mac.
